Colt Edwins birth soty
Mr
Colt was a complete surprise, we had said we were done having babies then BAM,
Dawn your eggo is preggo!! He made is
entrance into the word on Oct 10th 2013! I had already been to the
hospital like 5 times in the previous two weeks, and every time I was sent
home! I even went to my appointment a few days before I had him and my doctor
was like “no, you’re not having this baby till next week” I was so unsure if it
was labor, even though my water had broken with Koop on its own, labor didn’t actually
start till I was given Pitocin. The nurses kept trying to tell me oh it feels
the same regardless if you have pit or not, lies they tell lies, because it
really is not the same at all. On the 9th
I went about my day as normal, Chris went to work, and took care of the kids
just like any regular day. As the day went on I started to just get Uncomfortable
and crapmy. Chris got off work at 6, and I told him I think I want to go in. so
he went and picked up my friend Chelsea to watch the older two. From the time
he got off to the time he arrived home with Chelsea I still was not convinced
it was actually labor, even though the contractions where starting to come more
frequent and where more painful. Me and Chris headed to the hospital, but first
I had to stop for some ice for the 30 min drive. Even at the gas station I told
my husband just to go home this couldn’t be labor, he said no we are going to
go in. we got there and the nurse in triage said “watch I’m going to check you
and you will be a 5” sure as shit she checked me and I was at a 5!! I could not
believe it, was I actually in labor, my body after failing to know what to do
with the first two was actually getting with the picture and I was in labor! We got situated in the room and I called Candace
my business partner and one of my best friend’s, she was going to try her hand
at birth photography and photograph Colt’s grand entrance into the world! The whole
labor and everything was a dream, it went so smooth. We got settled into the
room, and I continued to progress. Pretty soon my water had broken on its own,
and the contractions started to get more intense, and before I knew it I was a
7! That’s when I asked for the epidural, I warned the anesthesiologist that
with my previous two births the epidural didn’t work on my right side, but you
guessed it, it still didn’t work! But things moved so fast she didn’t have time
to fix it! And yes I felt everything on my right side. The nurses propped me up, and it was time for
my practice pushes I warned the nurse, that I had my other kids out in a few
pushes and with the first practice push he was almost crowning! She was all
stop, stop your doctor is in the hall suiting up now! The doctor came in, and
got right to business and with my next contraction I had his head out, half way
through the contraction he said ok he’s crowning I said “I know I can feel it
lets get this done” and with the next my baby was born and on my chest! Colt
was born 10-10-13 at 4:21am and was 8lbs 14oz
21in long
