Kimber-Ann's birth sotry
Miss Kimber-Ann Jean made her entrance into
the world on March 24th 2009! On March 23rd I went in for
my 42 week checkup, I was nervous as all get out. I sat there waiting to hear
if I was going to finally be induced or not, my doctor decided that my blood
pressure was high and for me to go in to be induced. So I called my mom and sister and said it’s
finally time! We got to the hospital at about 10 am they checked my blood
pressure and guess what, it was fine! But they said your here and your doctor has
already ordered your induction so let’s have a baby! My body was nowhere near
ready to have a baby so they ordered a round of Cervidil! Cervidil for those of
you who have never had the privilege of meeting it acquaintance, is a vaginal
insert used for the starting or containing of the thinning and softening of the
cervix, basically it’s a very expensive tampon that stays in for 12 hours! I didn’t
feel very much the first 6 hours, but by night time I was starting to feel crampy
and have mild contractions, and was starting to get uncomfortable. So my
nurse gave me some pain killers into my IV. After the 12 hours of the first one
I was checked and it barley did anything! So you guessed it, they ordered me
another round of my very expensive tampon. About 6 hours into this one the
contractions where starting to get intense, so they decided to pull it out and
check me this time we were getting somewhere and they decided to take it out
and start Pitocin, and boy did it get things a movin’! pretty soon I was at a
three, and Next they decided my water needed to be broke, to try and get things
moving along even more…and the kabob skewer they wanted to shove up my lady
bits freaked me out! (I was young, 21, single, and had no education on child
birth) after they calmed me down and broke my water things really started to move
along and I was not doing so hot. I was not
relaxed at all, I tensed up and held my breath with every contraction. Basically
the exact opposite of what you want to do. So they decided it was time for an
epidural! The anesthesiologist came and gave me the epidural but it didn’t work
on the right side of my body, at all! Finely
after an hour of waiting he came back and re did it and it finally worded and I
was numb! At about 4:00 pm I was finally
ready to start pushing! And you guessed it I started to freak out once again! I
was not ready to be a mother, I was not ready to have a baby at all! But ready
or not here she came. The nurses got me in position and had me do a few “practice
pushes” kimber was still pretty high so I had my mom and my sister each holding
a leg and a nurse partially on top of my pushing Kimber down, after a few
pushes it was time to have a baby! I pushed for maybe 30 mins and then I had a beautiful
baby girl in my arms! She made her entrance at 4:30 pm and was 8 lbs 14 oz and
21 in long <3
